Little River State Park has added a fun filled feature to the lake area of the park that guests will be able to experience this weekend.
A zip line that will be known as the Zip-n-Dip will be open this weekend for guests who visit Little River.
The addition of the zip line is something that the staff at Little River wanted to add, according to Little River State Park forest office manager Thomas Miller.
“We were just looking for something fun for the kids,” he said. “From what I’ve heard though, it looks like I’m going to have to beat the adults out of the line for the kids. Everyone is getting excited about it.”
The Zip-n-Dip will be available for use by children as well as adults with the rate this weekend set at $1 per ride.
In the future the possibility of a day pass is being tossed around, Miller said.
“Right now we are looking at $1 rides, but we are working on something where we will have armbands available for the day for $10,” he said. “This weekend we will r un the ride from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. When we have the armbands, the kids will be able to ride as much as they can get it in, while the ride is open.”
Despite being open to adults and children there will be limits to being able to ride the Zip-n-Dip.
The restrictions for the ride are based on weight, Miller said.
“The cable that we are using has a 20,000 pound break strength,” he said. “The harnesses are capable of fitting someone from 45 pounds up to 275 pounds, so that is the restriction we will use on determining riders of the Zip-n-Dip.”
With the Zip-n-Dip to debut this weekend, Miller and the staff at Little River anticipate people venturing out to get a ride.
The excitement is stretching into adults in their 50s,Miller said.
“The buzz is good with it,” he said. “Children are thrilled about it and adults in their 30s, 40s and 50s are wanting to give it a try.”
The Zip-n-Dip will be open 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. this weekend with rides costing $1.
