Troy loses five players to ineligibility, dismissal

TROY, AL (AP) -Four Troy players won't be academically eligible this season, and a fifth has been dismissed from the team. Coach Larry Blakeney told The Dothan Eagle in a story Tuesday that wide receivers Jamel Johnson and Chip Reeves, cornerback KeJuan Phillips and linebacker Mark Wilson won't be eligible.
Blakeney says defensive end R.J. Roberts was dismissed for a violation of team rules.
Both Johnson and Reeves were projected starters for the Trojans.
Phillips had 36 tackles and six pass breakups last season after missing 2009 while academically ineligible.
Roberts played in 2007 and 2009 but missed one season for academics and was suspended last year for a violation of NCAA rules.
Wilson would have been a redshirt freshman.
