Congressman Jo Bonner holds a series of town hall meetings. Many local voters say they’re worried about high federal spending.
MONROEVILLE, Alabama - “Many of the people coming to Monroeville or any of the places Congressman Jo Bonner was holding meetingsthis week had different concerns, but many of those concerns centered around one primary issue.
“Maintaining fiscal restraint and reining in government spending,” says voter Rhodes Prince. He’s one of many who raised concern about federal spending and the budget at these meetings Thursday.
Most didn't want the debt ceiling raised. Bonner says he doesn't want to vote yes, but would prefer assurances to reduce spending if he raised it. “We don't have the kind of guarantees in place, rock solid that are going to help us move in a different direction than we're going in currently,” says Bonner.
