A Lee County grand jury has indicted four former Auburn University football players on armed robbery charges related to a March incident at an Auburn residence.
Michael McNeil, Antonio Goodwin, Shaun Kitchens and Dakota Mosley have each been indicted on five counts of first-degree robbery, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of third-degree theft of property in connection with the alleged armed robbery, according to court records made available Tuesday.
Mosley also faces a misdemeanor charge of conspiracy to hinder business.
The four are scheduled for arraignment on May 26 in Lee County Circuit Court with possible trial dates in June, according to court documents.
The question of youthful offender status for Goodwin, 20, and Mosley and Kitchens, both 19, will likely be taken up after their arraignment, according to Lee County District Attorney Robbie Treese.
Before closing the preliminary hearing for the four on the grounds of the three’s eligibility for youthful offender status, Lee County District Judge Steven Speakman said the decision would be made by the Lee County Circuit Court.
Defense attorneys requested youthful offender status for the three former Tigers during the preliminary hearing.
The four are out on bond, and Speakman modified the condition of their bonds to allow Kitchens and Goodwin to return home to Georgia and Mosley to Arkansas. McNeil is a native of Mobile.
The four were arrested early March 11 by Auburn police.
Kitchens, McNeil and Goodwin allegedly entered a residence in Conway Acres Trailer Park on Lee Road 137 and took cellphones and a handheld safe at gunpoint, according to warrants sworn out by victims and witnesses. The four were arrested soon after on Wire Road by police responding to the robbery call. Victims positively identified Kitchens, McNeil and Goodwin at the scene of the traffic stop.
According to Auburn police, one handgun, an air gun and the stolen property, including victims' cellphones and the safe, were recovered during the arrest.
The four were dismissed from the football team on March 11.
