MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has declared a state of emergency because of storm damage. At least three people are dead in Alabama after strong thunderstorms laced with tornadoes and powerful winds caused widespread damage across the state. Patrice Payne of the Pell City Emergency Management Agency said Wednesday at least two people are dead in St. Clair County. Cullman County sheriff's spokesman Jay Pendergrass says one person was killed when a tree fell on top of a car in the north Alabama county. Emergency management officials said two apparent tornadoes have touched down in Marshall County, causing an undetermined number of
injuries and widespread damage about 70 miles northeast of Birmingham.
