Most Americans Concerned About Overly Powerful Government

A new Rasmussen Poll shows that 2 out of 3 Americans (66 percent) fear a government that´s too powerful over a government that´s not powerful enough. The same poll shows that 17 percent think the bigger problem is a government that´s not powerful enough.
More than half (53 percent) think that the federal government threatens civil liberties, rather than protects them. Only 23 percent of voters think that the federal government actually represents them.
45 percent of Americans also believe that "The gap between Americans who want to govern themselves and politicians who want to rule over them is now as big as the gap between the American colonies and England during the 18th Century."
