Surfer Nearly Drowns

A scary morning in Gulf Shores for a surfer after her board knocks her unconscious while surfing.

GULF SHORES, Alabama - Gulf Shores Fire Rescue says a woman in her 20's was surfing this morning near the Santibel Condominiums when she was knocked unconscious by her surfboard. People on the beach did not know anything was wrong at first, but later noticed she was floating in the water. That's when they called 911.

She washed up on the beach, blue in the face, without a pulse. Luckily, firemedics were able to get her breathing again and her pulse back. She was flown to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.

The woman's name has not been released, but medics believe she may have been a tourist.
