One bill passed 65-25 Tuesday would protect retailers and wholesalers from being sued in product liability cases where the product came in a sealed container and they had nothing to do with its manufacturing. The bill passed the Senate earlier and now goes to the governor.
The House also voted 69-26 Tuesday for a bill that would apply federal court rules for expert witnesses to Alabama's courts. That bill must go back to the Senate to consider changes by the House.
The House gave final approval last week to three other bills to limit lawsuits. The chairman of the Business Council of Alabama, William Brooke, says it's a sign Alabama is no longer a haven for lawsuits.
