AHSAA issues punishment for Blount football fight

The Alabama High School Athletic Association has placed Mobile's Blount High on 2 years probation.
The organization also imposed a $6,300 fine for a fight during Blount's spring jamboree football game with Sidney Lanier. Principal Jerome Woods confirmed the penalties to the Monroe County Daily.
The AHSAA declined to say if action was taken against Sidney Lanier, and the school principal and athletic director did not immediately return calls Thursday.
Woods says the three Blount players who were involved must sit out the preseason game and regular season opener.
The other 48 players who left the bench area will not be suspended. Woods says Blount's players have completed an online sportsmanship program and are doing 24 hours of community service.
