HOLLY POND, Al. — The VF Jeanswear distribution center in Holly Pond that was shut down a year ago is being reopened, as some operations are being transferred from a facility that was destroyed by tornadoes on April 27.The company has announced plans to resume some limited shipping from the VF-owned facility around June 1. Officials say it's unknown how many positions will be restored at the Holly Pond location.
On the same day tornadoes tore through downtown Cullman and sections of Cullman County, another storm system struck the Hackleburg community, where a VF plant had been in operation. The distribution center there was destroyed, and one fatality was reported at the site.
Before it closed in April 2010, the VF Jeanswear plant was by far the largest employer in the town.
