POINT CLEAR, Alabama -- Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is scheduled to speak today at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear at a fundraiser for the Exceptional Foundation of Baldwin County.
The event is the first time that the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate has addressed an audience in the Mobile Bay area, according to organizers.
"We’re looking forward to it," Craig Dahle, one of the Exceptional Foundation organizers said Monday. "It’s going well. We don’t have quite the crowd that we might have hoped for, but it looks like we’re going to have a good crowd."
Tickets for the event are still available, Dahle said. The price of tickets is $600 each. He said tickets can be purchased at the event or by calling 251-990-2271 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 251-990-2271 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.
The event will start with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at about 7:15 p.m. Palin will speak and answer submitted questions at about 8 p.m..
The Exception Foundation is working to establish a program in Baldwin County to help mentally and physically challenged individuals in south Alabama. The foundation intends to provide daily programs for children 5 and older, and adults. Planned activities include arts and crafts, team sports, exercise classes, social events and music.
Palin, the mother of a child with Down syndrome, accepted the invitation to speak at the fundraiser. Asked if Palin charged a speaker’s fee, Dahle said organizers were not disclosing costs for the event.
They aren't speaking about the fee because she charged her usual $100k plus expenses. What a servant's heart, what warmth she shows to these people who are supposedly near and dear to her heart as she says. What a farce she is! For any mother of a Downs' Syndrome child to only speak if paid $100k is a disgrace and easily shows just how "special" these people are to her. They are special only as long as they fill her bank account. The fee has been verified by a Mr. Callahan who will be responsible for it if not enough money is raised to cover her fee. I don't know how she can show her face in public?
