As people in the U.S. and around the world celebrate news of the death of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, many Alabamians are voicing their opinions on al.com.  Here's a sample of what people are saying...

  • Finally this despicable miscreant has been brought to justice. - Coarch.

  • Great job by our guys who sacrifice themselves for us every day. The war in Afghanistan has been long and difficult. I have several family members who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan... and surprisingly they say that President Obama has been very good to them (which surprised me a little) and that he has been very committed to getting bin Laden all during his Presidency. So kudos to our guys and gals in the military who put their lives on the line so that we can be free - and thanks to you for making the world a safer place. - p3bhambama

  • Congratulations to our military, our intelligence agencies, and our Commander-in-Chief. We need to be vigilant now against any possible retaliation. - nobottomfeeder

  • I have to credit Obama for coming to peace with reality and disregarding all his own naive and foolish campaign statements. In the end, Obama did not close Guantanamo, he did not give terrorists civilian trials, he did not gut the Patriot Act, he did not bring our troops right home, and he did not stop predator attacks. Now we find out he did not stop the "Gray Fox" teams that the libs had a hissy fit about when Bush was president. Instead he pressed on with every one of those policies and they finally got Bin Laden. Maybe Obama will learn to triangulate as well as Clinton as get re-elected. Either way, he deserves some measure of credit for this. - catoyounger

  • I do not understand why there was any sensitivity to his burial. He had no sensitivity to families who never got so much as a tooth of their loved ones... Or men hung from bridges or men beheaded. Frankly his body should have been returned to the US, and hung from a bridge nearest to the WTC for all to see, and then finally put in a barrel filled with pig guts, and carried by pregnant women and buried head first into the ground, so that every ultimate indignity would be heaped upon him. Every terrorist should be treated this way, thus their confidence in the hereafter is shaken, that they may not find themselves with the 21 virgins. - windatmyback

  • It's not "bleeding heart" to say that one should act honorably, even towards dishonorable enemies. Plus, defacing the body would unnecessarily inflame the Muslim world, and probably increase the likelihood of attacks on Americans that would kill more people. It's dumb--there's no upside, other than to satisfy bloodlust. - robrr7

  • Praise God! The good guys always win - it just took a little time this time. Roll USA! - kwe
