Fuel card misuse investigation costs 3 troopers and 1 civilian their jobs

alabama-state-trooper.jpgMONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Three uniformed Alabama State Troopers and a civilian employee of the Alabama Department of Public Safety have resigned in the wake of an investigation into the misuse of fuel cards, authorities said today.

Spokesman Trooper Greg Eubanks did not say from what post the troopers were operating, but he did say that all four people left the department before termination proceedings could start.
An investigation was started earlier in the spring into the use of fuel cards for personal reasons, authorities said. Eubanks said the department is reviewing policies about fuel cards to prevent any future misuse.
Eubanks said any plan to pursue criminal charges against the four will be reviewed and determined by various local district attorneys and by the office of Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange. No one has been charged so far.
