HOOVER, Alabama -- Florida used a seventh-inning grand slam by Brian Johnson to defeat Mississippi State 7-5 today, advancing to play Alabama on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the SEC Tournament.
Earlier today, Alabama defeated Arkansas 7-4. Arkansas and Mississippi State will play in an elimination game Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
Still to come today: Auburn vs. South Carolina at 4:30 p.m., followed by Georgia vs. Vanderbilt.
The Gators are seeded third at the SEC Tournament, but they're No. 3 nationally in the Baseball America poll, No. 2 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 5 by USA Today/ESPN. Florida swept Alabama in Gainesville in late April. The Crimson Tide was outscored 18-3 in the three losses.
