Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office investigating unidentified body found floating in Tensaw River

Body of black man with religious tattoos found April 30 near Cloverleaf landing, could have entered water north of Baldwin County

SPANISH FORT, Ala. -- A body found floating in the Tensaw River April 30 between Spanish Fort and Bay Minette remains unidentified.
The body was spotted floating near the Cloverleaf landing, and investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office are asking for assistance from the public in identifying the deceased.

According to a release, the body is that of a black man who appeared to be in his 20s. He was wearing brown cargo shorts, a brown tank top and white Nike tennis shoes and appeared to be about 5 feet 9 inches tall with an approximate weight of 200 pounds.

Religious tattoos cover portions of his arms and chest, including a cross and Bible verse on his right arm with the numbers 1310-19 inked in the center of the cross. A tattoo of praying hands with II Chronicles imposed over the hands was found on his left arm. Investigators also detected "unidentifiable" tattoos on his chest and abdomen.

In addition, the , the man was found wearing a silver Armitron watch, diamond stud earring in his left ear and a silver necklace with a silver pendant akin to a dog tag.

Investigators believe the body might have been in the water for several days before it was detected, and it could have entered the river north of Baldwin County.
