MOBILE, Alabama -- Alexis Thompson made a 12-foot birdie putt at the par-5 16th hole and moments later Sandra Gal missed a par putt at No. 10, taking a bogey.
Those 2 happenings put Thompson in sole possession of first place in the Avnet LPGA Classic at Magnolia Grove's Crossings Course and Gal, the second-round leader, in a tie for second with Karen Stupples and Amy Yang.
Thompson has just 2 holes to play and is 5 under for the day.
