SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Kia Motors says first-quarter profit rose 91 percent as sales revenue and volume increased in South Korea and overseas amid higher vehicle prices.
Kia said Friday it earned $889.4 million in the three months ended March 31. That compared with net profit of 498.5 billion won a year earlier.
Kia Motors Corp. is South Korea's second-largest automaker behind Hyundai Motor Co. Together the two companies form the world's fifth-largest automotive group.Kia's first-quarter sales rose 37 percent to 10.7 trillion won.
